When Jared Leto isn’t busy winning Oscars and admitting his confusion over all those upcoming Joker movies, the “Suicide Squad” star has a whole other career as the frontman of a rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars.
It was in this mode that Leto and the band dropped by London’s BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, where they performed an epic medley of cover tunes honouring an array of rockers who have sadly passed recently.
Covering five songs in less than four minutes, the band rips its way through David Bowie’s “Heroes”, Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” (honouring the late Chris Cornell), Prince’s “Purple Rain”, George Michael’s “Freedom” and, as a tribute to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, the band’s “Crawling”.

Speaking with BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw, Leto discussed how much he enjoys visiting London.
“Oh my god, I do love it here. It’s one of my favourite places in the world. I love to walk around the city and explore. I’ve been coming to London since I was kid so it means a lot to me,” he said.
He also revealed his favourite British snack: Kinder Surprise eggs. “I remember when I was younger I used to come and eat those eggs that had, like, a toy in them or something?” he added. “Which seems really dangerous because if you’re chewing on that, it’s probably bad news.”
That wasn’t all Leto and the band had in store. Check out their performance of “Walk on the Water” from the BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge — featuring a gospel choir!
