Lorde has finally broken her silence and is fighting back at critics who were “angry” by her MTV Video Music Awards performance.

The singer had fans questioning why she decided to not sing a word of her track “Homemade Dynamite” and only dance to it.

Lorde spoke out to Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast where she slammed those who were confused about her choice, “People got so angry about me performing at the VMAs,” she said. “I just danced. And I danced with full f**king joy.”

“Some people were like, ‘We get it,’ but others were like, ‘This is offensive that I have to watch this.’ It’s so private seeing someone experience such joy. Challenge you ideals beyond what’s traditionally good, beautiful or ‘right’ in a context like this,” she continued.

The New Zealand star had previously defended her reasoning to avoid singing when she revealed she had a bad flu, adding she was injected with a cocktail of vitamins before the show, “I had those ladies come, those hot ladies. The drip doctors. You can just pay these ladies $200 and they will come and shoot you up with this cocktail. It could be for a hangover, could be a semi-professional sports person,” she joked.

She also confessed that she was so unwell she had to pull herself off an IV drip to attend the awards show.
