Jonathan Rhys Meyers and wife Mara Lane shared some sad news, with Lane taking to Instagram to reveal the couple had lost the baby she’d been carrying.
“With much sadness, we open our hearts to share that J and I lost our second child, who was baking in the oven,” wrote Lane on Instagram (the couple welcomed their first child, son Wolf, in December).
“Child was very very much wanted (right now especially by J, so he took the news particularly not so well) and we are still working with coping skills over here… when life throws us curve balls such as these,” she added.
Following the emotional announcement, Lane shared photos to Instagram of the tree where the couple’s second child was buried, along with the sonogram where the doctor revealed that there was no longer a heartbeat.
Thanking the couple’s fans for showing their love and support, Lane wrote, “To the showering of love received, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I am so humbled and got teary-eyed several times at how beautiful humans can be.”
Lane also addressed some recent photos taken of her husband at the Dublin airport, where he was reportedly accosted by security personnel and turned away from his flight to Vancouver after appearing too “dishevelled” and “really intoxicated.”
“Depression is a real concern from past abuse as well as alcoholism which he was born with,” Lane wrote of her husband, who’s had well-documented issues with alcohol abuse over the years.
“It does seem though that every time we seem to be making so much progress… sometimes it’s like two steps forward, one step back,” she wrote, adding: “To some others, my husband is an Irishman who battles alcoholism and depression and drank between jobs to try to cope with the sadness of this news.”

She also addressed the person who took the photos of the “Vikings” star that appeared in Dublin Live. “I feel that whomever took photos of my husband was slightly in the wrong and was concerned for the wrong reasons but … it’s OK,” she writes. “It’s OK. Maybe you have/had a family to feed and need/needed money? I don’t know. We forgive you.”
According to Lane, her husband is dealing with his issues after the miscarriage apparently led him to suffer a relapse. “He is safe and with his sober living companion and bodyguard to get into a detox closer to home since he was denied hospital help twice in Ireland because of an already two-month wait period,” wrote Lane.
“Life is life,” she added. “Life is beautiful. Life is tough sometimes though so let’s try not looking down at someone unless we intend on helping them up.”
