The devastation wreaked by Hurricane Harvey was immense, causing an estimated $180 billion in damage, resulting in more than 50 deaths, a million people displaced and some 200,000 homes damaged in a path of destruction spanning more than 300 miles.
To help those who’ve been impacted by this natural disaster, Scooter Braun (manager of such acts as Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande) and Houston rapper Bun B have put together “Hand in Hand”, a star-studded televised fundraiser featuring a who’s who of celebrities, ranging from George Clooney to Justin Timberlake to Selena Gomez to Dave Matthews to Barbra Streisand to Beyonce and many more.
“My hope is that there’s some young kid sitting in their living room watching this tomorrow night and they get inspired to make their lives about giving,” Braun told Entertainment Weekly. “And the next great leader that we’re waiting for is some young kid sitting in their living room and they get inspired by what they see tomorrow. That would be my greatest hope… Another great hope is that we raise a ton of money.”
Money raised will be donated to the Rebuild Texas Fund, ASPCA, Best Friends, Direct Relief, Feeding Florida, Feeding Texas, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children and United Way.
The show begins at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET and will be televised on all U.S. TV networks, and can also be seen via livestream, above.
Meanwhile, celebs are also taking to social media, such as Lupita Nyong’o, who tweeted a photo from the phone banks (featuring a cameo from a certain 007 star):
