Harrison Ford didn’t quite know how to feel when Carrie Fisher revealed an affair they had while filming “Star Wars: A New Hope”.
In what would become Fisher’s last memoir before her untimely passing, the actress wrote of the “Star Wars” stars’ affair in The Princess Diarist. “It was strange for me,” Ford told GQ in an interview published Wednesday.
Ford, 75, kept things brief when discussing Fisher’s memoir. When asked if he had been warned of his inclusion in The Princess Diarist, Ford simply said, “Um, to a degree. Yes.” The actor was 33-years-old and married to Mary Marquardt at the time of the affair with a 19-year-old Fisher.
So how does Ford feel about the bombshell Fisher inked on paper? “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know,” Ford said. “You know, with Carrie’s untimely passing, I don’t really feel that it’s a subject that I want to discuss.” In fact, the face of Han Solo and Indiana Jones has not even read the memoir: “No. I didn’t.”
Fisher was surprised the revelation caused such a stir. Last year, she told People, “It was 40 years ago.”
