Stephen King’s “It” has been setting box office records since its release this month, but James Corden took the horror hype down a notch as he hilariously transformed himself into Pennywise the Clown for a “Late Late Show” skit.
Corden looked the spitting image of the terrifying character with his red and white face make-up and copper wig, but he insisted he wasn’t out to get colleague Tim; who called the IT team for help, only to get Corden come knocking at his door.
The clown told his work friend: “Oh, I see the problem. You’ve called the IT department and i’m It. So there’s been a mix-up. It’s not your fault. It happens all the time.”
He then proceeded to scare him from his filing cabinet drawer and pop up from behind his computer with the iconic red balloon; which Tim then popped only to be told “you should never pop a murderous clown’s balloon.”
In the end, Tim made another call down to IT, only to get Freddie Krueger, who insisted that he had “turned over a new leaf, been to night school and got a degree in computer sciences.”
Corden’s latest spoof comes after he got himself into a bit of a sticky situation with Gwyneth Paltrow earlier this week when he opened the show with a ranting monologue about Goop’s new magazine.
“For those of you who don’t know, a magazine is where you print out the Internet and you trick people into buying it,” he quipped. “I can’t believe Gwyneth Paltrow beat out the competition to be on the cover of Gwyneth Paltrow magazine.”
