Fresh off the TIFF premiere of the psychological thriller “Mother!”, star Jennifer Lawrence travelled to New York City where she gushed about working with her director boyfriend, Darren Aronofsky.
“I’ve wanted to work with him for years, I think he’s the boldest director of our time,” she tells ET Canada’s Sangita Patel. “I think he’s so brave, obviously brilliant.”
The 27-year-old Oscar winner fell for Aronofsky, 48, while making “Mother!” together. In the freaky flick, Lawrence plays a pregnant woman whose tranquil home is threatened by the arrival of unexpected guests.
Lawrence admits she was a big fan of the “Black Swan” and “Requiem For A Dream” director. “Every time he makes a movie he’s like a songwriter. It’s just in him and it has to come out. And I’ve just never met anyone like that I think it’s incredible,” she says.
While the actress was eager to dish on Aronofsky’s talent, the director didn’t fall for Sangita’s questions about Lawrence, jokingly telling her, “Good try.” Though he may not have talked about her during interviews, the previous PDA-shy couple wrapped their arms around each other at the film’s premiere in New York City.
“Mother!” is polarizing critics and earning comparisons to another horror film involving a young pregnant woman, “Rosemary’s Baby”. Lawrence tells Sangita wearing the pregnancy belly was fun – at first.
“At first I loved it I was like, ‘Look at this’! And then after your back and feet start hurting…’cause I mean it was like 20 pounds, it was silicon, it was really heavy,” she says. “When you’re pregnant you have time to develop the body and get used to the weight, but I just come in the morning and I go ‘Harrumph,'” she adds, mimicking the act of putting on the heavy belly.
“Mother!” co-stars Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer and Domhnall Gleeson and opens in theatres on Friday.
