Ryan Phillippe Responds To Ex-Girlfriend’s Assault Allegations And $1 Million Lawsuit

Ryan Phillippe’s ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt is alleging in a new lawsuit against the actor that he physically assaulted her.

People reports that Hewitt claims in her $1 million suit that during an argument on July 4, Phillippe grabbed her, kicked her, and threw her down a set of stairs. E! also reports that Hewitt plans to donate any money awarded in the lawsuit to domestic violence charities, according to her attorney.

Phillippe tweeted Tuesday, saying that “every one of my accuser’s allegations are false.

In a statement, a representative for Phillippe tells ET Canada, “As a staunch advocate for the health, well-being and equality of women, Ryan is completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated. Domestic violence is an incredibly serious issue and fabricated and proven false claims should not be used to unjustly slander the falsely accused. The claims are false.”

A rep for Hewitt issued a statement to ET Canada shortly after, responding to Phillippe, saying, “The only thing Phillipe’s PR statement has right is the fact that domestic violence is a serious issue. The claim that he didn’t assault her is laughable. He must think the media are a bunch of fools.”

The statement continues: “She has photos of the serious cuts and bruises she suffered as a result of the assault. She has hospital records documenting her injuries. The police took a report of the assault and issued a restraining order. Her employer Paul Marciano at Guess can confirm her injuries as can her friend who witnessed the assault. Add to this any man who calls a woman a c— has serious animus towards women in general and would not be one championing the equality of women.”

The documents filed by the 21-year-old Playboy model allegedly include photos of bruises and cuts on her body, and also claim Phillippe abused drugs like “cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and steroids,” and combined them with “excessive alcohol consumption.”

Hewitt testifies in the court documents that while arguing with Phillippe at his house, she began gathering belongings to leave: “Phillippe reacted by attacking Hewitt. He grabbed Hewitt’s upper arm so tightly that his grip left heavy bruises on her arm hours later. He then braced his body and violently threw her down his staircase as hard as he could.”

“When Hewitt finally made it back to the top of the second staircase to pick up her belongings,” the filing continues, “Phillippe repeatedly grabbed Hewitt, struck her, cornered her, kicked her, and aggressively pushed her to the ground.” Hewitt says she then tried get up to leave, at which point Phillippe “picked [her] up like a doll and tossed her down the stairs a second time.”

According to Hewitt, after the incident she went to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for treatment and filed a police report.
