We’re used to hearing how much actors and actresses earn for appearing in Hollywood blockbusters, but it’s rare to learn of stars who wind up paying money out of their own pockets just to appear in one.
Yet that’s the case for Olivia Munn and her cameo in the upcoming reboot “Ocean’s Eight”, revealing in an interview with “Entertainment Weekly Radio” that appearing in the anticipated new movie came at a price.
“It actually cost me money to be part of ‘Ocean’s Eight’,” the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star says in the interview.
Featuring an all-star cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonhan Carter and Mindy Kaling, “Ocean’s Eight” features Munn in what’s reported to be a “brief scene” attending the Met Gala.
However, as Munn explains, she wound up footing the bill for the posh wardrobe required for the scene.
“They’re like, ‘Do your own glam,’ and I got the dress and all that and then you submit the bills for it because I’m part of your movie,” says Munn. “And then they’re [the producers] like, ‘Oh no, the bills come right back to you.’”
Despite the bucks she spent, Munn adds that she doesn’t have any hard feelings about what took place, noting that she’s “just as excited about it as everybody else.”
According to EW, the film’s distributor, Warner Bros., “did not immediately respond to request for comment.”
