John Cleese is not sweating death, even though he is, in his own words, “astonishingly old.”
“I’ve forgotten how old I am,” Cleese joked to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday.
The 77-year-old “Monty Python” star said, “It’s very nice being this old, because when you’re this old you’re going to die soon, so you don’t give a f***, you see?”
Fallon asked if he’s afraid of death, to which Cleese responded responded, “I’m not afraid of death. I mean, I was thinking about it a lot because you do as you get older. And I thought, ‘well, most of the best people are dead.'”

“And there are an awful lot of really awful people still alive,” Cleese said. “And most of them are in charge!”
As for which dead people Cleese admires, he said, “Abraham Lincoln. Dead as a doornail.”
Cleese is currently on tour in which he answers questions on stage after screenings of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, though he admitted to Fallon that it’s not exactly his favourite movie.
“Everyone in America thinks it’s such a wonderful movie,” he said. “I don’t particularly like it!”
