So you’ve got a hankering from some freshly baked banana bread, and you’re ready to hit the kitchen and get baking when you realize you’re missing one crucial ingredient: overripe brown bananas.
While this would probably stop most of us in our tracks, Chrissy Teigen refused to be deterred and took her dilemma to social media, offering some sweet swag (including a pair of husband John Legend’s tighty-whities) in exchange for a little help.
“If u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I will send my assistant to your home with a signed cookbook, John’s underwear and a Becca palette,” she tweeted.
To emphasize that she wasn’t goofing around, the top model/”Lip Sync Battle” co-host issued a followup tweet noting that she was dead serious, and required proof of bananas in hand.
Teigen found herself besieged by submissions, including this one boasting perfectly ripened bananas — but unfortunately only two of them.
With two down and four to go, Teigen continued her banana solicitation:
Teigen thought she had hit the jackpot with this tweet, which came close but didn’t quite hit the mark.
Contemplating her poor assistant driving all over Los Angeles, Teigen hedged her bets.
But because the banana-bearer lived near Teigen’s assistant, a deal was done, with the rest of the transaction documented on Twitter.
A bizarre fact emerged from the photo above: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend apparently make their dog dress up like a hotel bellhop, which she acknowledged but did not explain.
But just when she thought the hunt was over, disaster struck.
Teigen’s final hope for a finished product came in the form of wannabe DJ and social media star Jake Updegraff.
So what about the finished product? Teigen tweeted a series of videos of what appears to be the finished banana bundt, and MAN does it look good.
Here’s how the banana quest played out in a Twitter moment:
