Fans of Kanye West may recall a trailer released last year promoting a video game called “Only One”, sharing its title with the rapper’s 2015 collaboration with Paul McCartney.
“The idea of the game is my mom traveling through the gates of Heaven,” Yeezy described “Only One” at the time, and while the actual game has set to see the light of day, the over-the-top trailer forms the basis for another trailer, this one for the latest “South Park” video game.
In fact, the just-released trailer for “South Park: The Fractured But Whole” is a 90-second spoof of West’s “Only One” trailer, focusing on a Yeezy-like fish (adorned with gold bling) that “South Park” fans will recall from a 2009 episode that mocked West by depicting him as a gay fish who swims out to sea in order to live the life of which he’s always dreamed.
In the new trailer, the same fish returns to enlist the help of aquatic superhero Seaman and his young protege in order to guide the fish’s mother into heaven (the mother is depicted as a lipstick-wearing fish riding on the back of a flying unicorn).
In this clip from last year, “South Park” creator Matt Stone and Trey Parker hilariously dissect the “Only One” game trailer:
“South Park: The Fractured But Whole” will be released on Oct. 17. In the meantime, compare and contrast the “South Park” spoof with the Yeezy original by checking out the 2016 trailer for the yet-to-be-unveiled “Only One”, below.
