The long-gestating look at notorious gangster John Gotti is finally here with John Travolta taking on the titular role of the dapper crime boss in “Gotti”. The actor’s real-life wife Kelly Preston steps into the role of Gotti’s wife, Victoria.
Transforming into the well-dressed mob boss, Travolta is ready to build an empire in the first trailer for the film which debuted on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday.

Nicknamed the Teflon Don, Gotti was acquitted three times in separate criminal trials in the 1980s – all tainted by jury tampering and witness intimidation – before finally being convicted of murder in 1992. He died in prison of throat cancer in 2002 at the age of 61. “Gotti” will explore his rise from street thug through the Gambino crime family into the media-loving mobster.
The film lingered in various stages of development with Travolta as the star as far back as 2011 under various titles. Directed by “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly, the movie will open in theatres on Dec. 15.
