After months of anticipation, the reviews are in for Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049”. And it’s good news for the Quebec-born director.

Critics are lauding Villneuve’s vision for the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic. The film stars Ryan Gosling as Officer K, a young blade runner tasked with tracking down the missing Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford who reprises his role from the original film.

While full reviews for “Blade Runner 2049” won’t be out until next week ahead of the film’s Oct. 6 opening, major critics have been posting their reactions on Twitter, heaping praise on the sequel as they call it everything from “mindblowing” and a “sci-fi masterpiece”, to the best film of 2017.

Even critics who are usually divided over Jared Leto are praising his performance, while Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks is called a “scene stealer.”
