With so many car-related talk show segments these days, Tom Cruise was not expecting what Conan O’Brien had to offer.

Cruise, 55, and O’Brien, 54, linked up in London for a casual car ride and conversation, but things got a little awkward. “The Mummy” star was expecting a comedy-bit over a cup of coffee like Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” or James Corden’s upbeat “Carpool Karaoke”. Conan didn’t think that far ahead.
“My thing is we take it back to basics… we just drive,” O’Brien said. Cruise tried to make conversation about his new movie “American Made” and even a story the legendary Jack Nicholson told him, but it was important for the talk show host to focus on the road.
“Maybe we could just keep that story for later,” O’Brien told Cruise. At one point, O’Brien revealed his license was revoked for driving under the influence and Cruise couldn’t exit the vehicle because of the child lock.
