Screen legends Jane Fonda and Robert Redford are addressing their awkward interview with Megyn Kelly.

On Wednesday during an interview about their new Netflix romance “Our Souls At Night”, Kelly asked Fonda about her plastic surgeries on live TV. While the star has been open about undergoing work in the past, she was quick to cut Kelly off on air. “We really want to talk about that now?” she replied, shutting down the cringeworthy question. “Let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, ‘Our Souls at Night’, rather than plastic surgery,” she said before the stars took over the interview, asking each other questions.

Hours after the interview, ET Canada’s Sangita Patel sat down with the stars in New York City to get their reaction to Kelly’s embarrassing line of questioning.

“I was a little bit shocked by her question. Were you shocked by it?” Sangita asks Fonda, 79.

“A little bit. Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up – whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not. I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question,” the two-time Oscar winner says, smiling, as Sangita tells her, “I love the way you handled it.”

Sangita isn’t the only one who believes Fonda handled the situation well. Even former Prime Minister Kim Campbell says her on-camera response to Kelly was “wonderful”.

The interview seemed to have had less of an impact on her co-star. Redford, 80, needed a little reminding about the interview.

“It didn’t involve me. Of course, I haven’t had [plastic surgery],” he says. “I think Jane didn’t want to go there. I think she didn’t want to have the show turn into about her, her surgery or her look. It was about the quality of the performance.”

“I wasn’t paying a lot of attention,” Redford laughs.
