You can say that Carlos is like family, spending the last 15 years on sister program, YTV’s, “The Zone,” and occasionally appearing on ET Canada for the past year. Throughout his career, Carlos has interviewed the biggest and brightest stars of today, including the likes of Chris Pratt, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Tina Fey, Robert Downey Jr., Col. Chris Hadfield and the boys of One Direction.

He also had a re-occurring role in YTV’s hit series “Make it Pop,” and in 2014 won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program for his work hosting “The Next Star” Season 6. Now a permanent reporter, Carlos shares a sneak peek into his behind-the-scenes life.

Here are seven more things you should know about Carlos:

Boy can move!

Having more energy than his parents knew what to do with, they enrolled him in dance class when he was eight years old.

“My childhood hero was Gregory Hines. I got into dance and performing as a kid because of him. He was a class act in every way,” says Carlos.

Those tap dances paid off.

Landing his first job as a tap dance teacher at 14, he turned a hobby into a profession.

“I started teaching tap and took it a step further by auditioning for various jobs, and actually did my first full run as a dancer in a musical when I was 17,” he reveals.

His inspiration to enter the entertainment biz came from late-night talk shows.

Fortunate enough to land a gig on YTV’s The Zone the day after graduating from Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, Carlos always knew he wanted to work in the entertainment industry.

“Growing up I watched a lot of David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. Entertainment Tonight was actually one of the shows I would watch with my parents. I knew from a young age I wanted to be in entertainment,” he recalls.

His favourite celebrity is a trailblazer.

A self-proclaimed pop-culture junkie, Carlos eats, breathes and consumes celebrity culture and has his finger on the pulse of up and coming talent.

“Donald Glover! He’s multi-talented, he takes creative risks, and pours himself into everything he creates.

Let’s just say he was born to travel.

Travelling the world as part of his new gig will be no challenge for Carlos. Born in Manila, Philippines, Carlos and his family moved to Canada when he was a small child.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to live all across Canada. I’ve lived in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto, but I grew up mostly in Burlington, Ontario. I’ve already had the opportunity to travel with ET Canada to London, Nashville and Los Angeles, and I’m game for wherever my next assignment takes me!”

Newsflash. You’re going to Shanghai!

Did we mention he really loves late-night talk…

As a father of two with a jam-packed schedule, we’re not sure where he finds the time, but somehow Carlos manages to get in his late-night talk show fix. So it only makes perfect sense that this person is at the top of his interview wish list.

“I’d really like to interview James Corden! He’s talented, funny, and seems like a good guy to talk to,” he proclaims.

He’s kind of a thrill seeker.

Bringing more fun, good energy, and a fresh perspective to ET Canada, Carlos has leapt at every opportunity to entertain his audience, literally dangling off the CN Tower, bobsledding down an Olympic track, and nervously hopping into a cage with a 700 pound tiger.

I love trying new things and overcoming my fears. It’s fun to be scared sometimes and come out of your comfort zone. That’s the only way to truly grow and evolve,” he says.
