One of the music industry’s most prolific bands finally score their first number one album.
The Killers fifth studio album “Wonderful Wonderful” — their first record in five years — tops the Billboard 200 chart 13 years after the band’s debut work “Hot Fuss”. “Wonderful Wonderful” moved 118,000 album equivalent units in the first week following its Sept. 22 release.
The band has produced an impressive catalogue of hit songs over the last decande-plus: from double and triple platinum singles “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me” to the chart-topping “When You Were Young” to fan favourites like “Human” and “Spaceman”.
“Wonderful Wonderful”‘s rise to the top was boosted by the album’s lead single, “The Man”, which was heavily played in promotion for Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor.
The Killers also made history as the first international act to score five consecutive number one albums in the U.K.
The band recently announced their 2018 North American tour, kicking off in Toronto on Jan. 5.
