Denzel Washington is a lawyer forced to take matters into his own hands in the first trailer for “Roman J. Israel, Esq.”.

The film, which had its premiere last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, is directed by “Nightcrawler” filmmaker Dan Gilroy, and co-stars Colin Farrell and Carmen Ejogo.

Washington plays Roman J. Israel, a lawyer with a strong desire to do right by his defendants and the community, which often has him butting heads with people in positions of power.

After learning the firm he works for is dealing in business that goes against his ethical code, Israel sets down a path to bring justice any way he can.
