Marvel Studios continues to dominate screens large and small, with the latest comic book-inspired TV series focusing on “Runaways”, following a group of teens who discover their parents are part of an evil cabal of super-villains — while also discovering that each of them is imbued with superpowers they didn’t realize they had.
“Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were?” reads the official synopsis of the 10-episode Hulu series, which will air in Canada on Showcase. “‘Marvel’s Runaways’ is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.”
Showrunner Josh Schwartz (“The O.C.”) spoke about “Marvel’s Runaways” during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, elaborating on the show tapping into “this idea of every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if your parents actually were, which is super relatable, no matter what genre? And then on the flip side of that, there are going to be times in your life as a parent when you’re going to do something and your kid is going to hate you for it. But in your mind, you’re doing it for their own good. And that’s really the story that we want to tell.”
“Marvel’s Runaways” premieres Sunday, Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showcase.
