Another alleged victim of Harvey Weinstein has come forward to recount yet another shocking claim of sexual abuse against the famed movie producer.
TV reporter Lauren Sivan, currently employed by Fox 11 in Los Angeles, claims Weinstein cornered her in a private area of a restaurant and proceeded to masturbate to completion, right in front of her.
Sivan sat down with “Megyn Kelly TODAY” to elaborate on the incident. She revealed the moment she “saw the red flags” and described being “so shocked” in what she was “witnessing.”
The reporter called Weinstein’s alleged actions, “disgusting and kind of pathetic really to stand there and look at this man.” She also described how “demeaning” it felt and that his “apology was the final straw.”
Sivan is confident she “was definitely not alone” and is “positive that more women will come forward.”
Sivan initially told HuffPost of the incident, which occurred a decade ago, when Sivan was working for a cable channel in Long Island, New York.
According to Sivan, she and some friends met Weinstein at Cipriani, a famed Italian restaurant in Manhattan, before driving with Weinstein and others to Socialista, a Cuban-themed club/restaurant in which Weinstein was an investor. She said Weinstein asked her to come on a tour of the restaurant; before leaving, Sivan’s friend told her that if she wasn’t back in 10 minutes she would come find her and check in.
When they reached the kitchen, Weinstein dismissed the staffers, who left immediately. Once they were alone, Sivan claimed Sivan tried to lean in and kiss her. She gently rebuffed the mogul, telling him she was in a long-term relationship at the time.
“Well,” said Weinstein, according to Sivan, “can you just stand there and shut up.”
Sivan added that they were in a vestibule, with Weinstein blocking the passage, which left her “trapped by Weinstein’s body” and feeling intimidated.
“Weinstein then proceeded to expose himself to Sivan and began to masturbate,” reads Huffpost’s account. “Sivan said she was deeply shocked by Weinstein’s behaviour and was frozen and didn’t know what to do or say. The incident in the vestibule didn’t last long. Sivan says Weinstein ejaculated quickly into a potted plant that was in the vestibule and then proceeded to zip up his pants and they walked back into the kitchen.”
Sivan and her friend (who corroborated the account) discussed what happened when the left the restaurant, which was almost immediately afterward.
“Sivan said Weinstein called her office the next day while she was at work,” continued HuffPost. “Sivan said Weinstein told her that he ‘had a great time last night.’ Weinstein mentioned that he was going on a foreign trip and asked if Sivan wanted to get together when he got back. Sivan reminded him that she was in a relationship and says she quickly ended the call. She has not interacted with Weinstein since the incident in 2007.”
As for why she waited a decade to come forward with her story, Sivan said while she told the story in confidence to friends, she “remained quiet because she was in a long-term relationship and fearful of the power that Weinstein wielded in the media.”
Sivan briefly touched on her bombshell allegations on Twitter, explaining why she’s only now coming forward:
The Weinstein Company announced that Weinstein would be taking an immediate leave of absence after the New York Times revealed the bombastic movie mogul settled eight sexual harassment claims due to alleged behaviour that goes back decades.
