While “Sex and the City” fans continue to mourn what would have been after news that of plans for a third “Sex and the City” movie have derailed (rumours claim Kim Cattrall’s diva-like demands resulted in the film’s demise; Cattrall has denied those reports), “American Horror Story”/”American Crime Story” producer Ryan Murphy offers a simple solution to get “SATC 3” back on track.

“Recast Samantha!” Murphy said in a conversation with TV critic Emily Nussbaum at The New Yorker Festival on Saturday, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“Look, I would be very devastated if I created something cultural like that and 95 per cent of the team said, ‘Let’s do it,’ but there was a hold on it,” Murphy explained, insisting: “I don’t blame Kim Cattrall though.”

Added Murphy: “I don’t get it… It seems to me that there are a lot of people on that show who have a great passion for making it. I love Sarah Jessica Parker. I’ve worked with her. I think she’s amazing… She’s a great producer and has a great business acumen.”

He also offered a story suggestion that would solve all the problems. “Just do one where Samantha is dead,” he said, adding that he’s personally a big “Sex and the City” fan.

“They meant something to me,” he said, “they were important and cultural in changing the discussion of women and sexuality.”

Cattrall has denied reports that her insistence the studio produce her projects in exchange for agreeing to sign on for a third “SATC” movie was the reason why the film won’t be made, blasting producers and co-stars by stating that she’s ready to “take to task the people from ‘Sex And The City’ and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer.”
