Back in 1996, when “The Simpsons” were in their seventh season, “22 Short Films About Springfield” aired but the full script didn’t run.

One of the show’s former executive producers, Josh Weinstein, revealed the script for a lost scene from that episode featuring the late Phil Hartman’s Lionel Hutz.

“’22 Short Films About Springfield’ never had 22 stories,” Weinstein wrote to Twitter accompanied by a photo of the script. “But the second draft did have 20! Here’s the Lionel Hutz story that was cut.”

The lost scene has Hutz smooth talking Maude Flanders and Mrs. Bouvier (Marge’s mother).

The fan-favourite character, who first appeared in season two and again multiple times during the early years of the series, made his final goodbye in season nine. When Hartman passed in 1998, Hutz was retired.
