Samantha Bee took Harvey Weinstein and the “creeps of Hollywood” to task in a blistering new monologue.
The “Full Frontal” host began her new episode Wednesday by talking about the allegations of sexual assault and harassment against Weinstein.
“When the scandal broke, Weinstein made an apology-like statement in The New York Post, saying, ‘I have got to change, I’ve got to grow … I know a lot of people would like me to go into a facility,’” Bee told her audience.
“Oh my God, I’m so behind on the slang,” Bee continued. “Is a facility what people call hell?”
Bee also took umbrage with Weinstein’s defence that his behaviour came from being in the industry in the ’60s and ’70s. “Nobody asked for your all about me-a culpa,” Bee said. “Don’t blame the ’60s and ’70s for your s***ty decision making. It’s serial sexual harassment, not a Monkees tattoo.”
But it wasn’t just Weinstein whom Bee wanted to talk to. She also had a message for the “creeps of Hollywood.”
“Women talk to each other, and we talk to journalists, and we talk to lawyers. It’s 2017. We don’t have to put up with this s***,” Bee said. “We are coming for you.”
“Talk to every woman like she has me on speed dial. My show is only once a week,” Bee added. “I’ve got some free time.”
