Jordan Peele, the mastermind behind the hit “Get Out”, surprised students at a UCLA class as they discussed the film.
Professor Tananarive Due teaches the black horror film class, “Sunken Place: Racism, Survival and Black Horror Aesthetic”, which was inspired by the 2017 smash.
To say the class was “excited” would be an understatement. Due posted a few other quotes from the class to her Twitter, promising more on Friday, but here’s how the surprise went down.
The film, Peele’s directorial debut, has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and pulled in more than $250 million at the box office worldwide. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, a black photographer, who unknowingly goes to visit his girlfriend’s parents, only to discover that they have been kidnapping young black men for experiments.
