Miles Teller got engaged over the summer and now he’s sharing the hilarious story of his proposal.
The 30-year-old actor told Jimmy Fallon he proposed to now-fiancee Keleigh Sperry while on an African safari.

After showing a photo of Sperry with a beautiful engagement ring, Teller said he got the safari guide to help him arrange the whole thing.
“You do a coffee break after you do the morning sunrise safari,” Teller explained. “I said [to the guide], ‘Wherever we’re gonna be at, tie a rose to a tree and then put this note on there.’ So we had our coffee break, she sees the flower, and she thought somebody had died. She thought it was like an in memoriam kind of thing, like oh my God, and I’m just like staring, you know. Like, ‘Yeah, no, just go check it out.’”
Once Sperry read the note, though, she understood.
“I [wrote] on the note our anniversary which was May 11, 2013, and then the day it was,” Teller said, “and I said, ‘Well, this is the first day I asked you to be my girlfriend, and today was the last day you woke up as my girlfriend.'”
The rose also had a special significance, as a reference to one of Sperry’s favourite reality shows.
“She watches ‘The Bachelorette’ and stuff so she felt like she had won… because she had a rose,” Teller said.

He also talked about two new films based on true stories he’s starring in, “Thank You for Your Service”, about returning Iraq war veterans, and “Only the Brave”, about 19 firefighters in Arizona who lost their lives fighting a wildfire.
“These are the real life heroes,” Teller said. “Everybody wants to escape and go see superheroes, and I’ve been part of that world as well, but these are the men and women who are doing it, our first responders. If you don’t appreciate them, your value system is messed up.”
