Gary Goldsmith, uncle of the Duchess of Cambridge, has pleaded guilty after being arrested following a late-night altercation on a London street last month.
Recently, Goldsmith pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating. The BBC reports Goldsmith threw a “left hook” at his wife after a drunken argument in the back of a taxi following a charity event on Oct. 13.
The prosecutor said the taxi driver saw Mrs. Goldsmith slap her husband in the face before he retaliated. Mrs. Goldsmith fell “backwards” out of the vehicle and laid unconscious for about 15 seconds.
According to the prosecutor, Goldsmith’s wife staggered to her feet crying and told the taxi driver to call the police. A “panicked” Goldsmith became aggressive towards the driver, who confronted him over the assault on his wife.
Goldsmith’s sentencing will take place on Nov. 21.
Only a few hours before the incident, Goldsmith and his wife posed for a selfie with his wife that he posted to his Twitter account.
Goldsmith is the younger brother of Duchess Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, and made headlines back in 2009 when an undercover reporter filmed him as he appeared to snort cocaine while bragging about his royal connections at his home in Ibiza, dubbed “Maison de Bang Bang.”
