Bow Wow is once again feeling the wrath of Twitter after sharing a photo of the classic roster of Death Row Records, with the face of his younger self added (presumably via Photoshop) to appear alongside those of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and other iconic rappers.
“Where it all started,” wrote Bow Wow (real name: Shad Moss) in the caption accompanying the photo, which originally appeared on a 1996 edition of Vibe magazine — which decidedly did not feature the child rapper then known as Lil Bow Wow.
Some have pointed out that Bow Wow actually did have a connection with Death Row — he toured and recorded with Snoop, who gave him his stage moniker — even though he was never officially signed to the label.
Yet that subtle distinction was clearly lost on the numerous Twitter users who bashed and mocked him for tweeting the pic.
Following the backlash, Bow Wow clarified in some followup tweets, noting that he “was on Death Row at [age] 6” — and offered some non-Photoshopped pics as proof.
This isn’t the first time that social media has made Bow Wow the butt of the joke. Back in May, he posted a photo of a private jet on Instagram accompanying a message about his travel plans. The picture of the jet was later found to be a stock photo from a jet charter company, and Bow Wow was further embarrassed when a photo emerged of him on a commercial flight on the same day he implied he’d be flying in a private jet.
