Reid Perry of country music act The Band Perry underwent an emergency appendectomy in Los Angeles, and decided to document the whole thing on Instagram Stories.

According to People, the journey began with a photo he shared of the ER of the UCLA Medical Center, circling the word “emergency” while writing in the caption: “Kind of a bad time for this to happen right now.”

About four hours later, Perry shared another photo, this one apparently of his hospital room, writing the words “appendectomy” and “under the [knife].” He also wrote, “I never get sick, but when I do, they take body parts away.”

This was followed by a third photo, this one a selfie in which Perry is in a hospital gown, writing that he was “getting bored while going crazy” and “I keep thinking about that opening scene from TWD.” (The reference is likely to the pilot episode of “The Walking Dead”, in which Rick — played by Andrew Lincoln — awakes from a coma in an abandoned hospital).

Later, Perry posted a pair of short videos in which she slices off his medical ID bracelet, with the caption, “Discharged,” indicating that he was released from the hospital after an apparently successful operation,

On Saturday, Perry’s brother and fellow Band Perry member Neil Perry shared an Instagram update about the emergency surgery, noting that he was “so thankful that my brother is feeling better today after a mild health scare.”

Added Neil: “Family is the most important thing in this world. and i can’t say enough about how much i respect and look up to my big brother. he’s the strongest person i kno.”
