Turns out Marshmello is hiding something worth seeing underneath that oversized marshmallow mask!
Selena Gomez sat down with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe to talk about her new song “Wolves” featuring the popular DJ. “He’s actually cute,” Gomez dished when Lowe inquired about what was under her collaborator’s mask. “Yeah. I’d say yes. I don’t know if he’d kill me for saying that,” she continued.

It has been a topsy-turvy few years for Gomez, who has been recovering from complications from her bout with Lupus. Gomez, 25, is keeping her head strong and pushing forward! “A lot of distractions take away from the music,” the singer confessed. “For me, this year, I wanted to find a little bit more of a different place.”
“I wanted my music to be a lot more meaningful, to be honest,” she added. “That’s always what I searched for and I did a ton of records this year and last year as well, I just wanted to take my time. I didn’t want it to be clouded by over glamourized things and the pop world can be really distracting sometimes. This year I did it at my own pace.”
The duo’s new song, “Wolves”, was highly anticipated ahead of its release on Wednesday. “The song is very beautiful and personal and the lyrics just have a whole story of its own,” Gomez explained. “Weirdly, at the same time I was working on it in Japan I was going through stuff too.”
Gomez also gave an update on the status of her third studio album. “I honestly didn’t want to put out an album at first,” she admitted. “I felt like I don’t want to rush things.” The singer is doing things at her own pace and ignoring outside pressure: “I’m going to release the songs I want to release and just take my time. I was also going through stuff personally and I just wanted to take care of myself.”

Despite no promise of an impending album, Gomez has kept very busy with her body of work. “Wolves” is the singer’s fourth single of 2017, following platinum-certified hits “It Ain’t Me”, “Bad Liar” and “Fetish”.
Marshmello, for his part, will headline day one of the Contact Winter Music Festival in Vancouver on Dec. 26.
