Walk Off The Earth singer Sarah Blackwood says she was the victim of discrimination served up by a major US airline.
The multi-talented musician has declared that she was kicked off of a United Airlines flight yesterday because her crying child was seen as a hazard. ET Canada reached out to Blackwood to learn more about the incident.
“My son was having a fussy day.”; shared Blackwood. “He was upset on the airplane. He was squiggling around a little bit, I had him on my lap.”;
The Canadian-born entertainer says she was told to “control”; her 23-month-old son.
“I was approached by two flight attendants at different times telling me to control my child since I was parent,”; explains Blackwood. “I know how to fly with my child I’ve been doing it for two years.”;
By the time the plane had returned to the gate, her child was already asleep. The flight crew’s decision was met with additional passengers protesting the course of action.
“There was a few people that stood up and said “this is ridiculous. you can’t do this,'”; shared the Juno-nominated performer. She told us that a woman was threatened with being kicked off the flight when she gathered emails for a petition.
Blackwood says she would like an apology and that she’s going to look into “every option we have out there”; regarding the incident as she felt unfairly treated.
She expressed her frustration on Twitter and has been retweeting countless messages of support from fans sharing in the outrage. As anyone checking her timeline can tell you, the frustration has quickly gone viral.
