“Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp was motivated to shed light on allegations against Kevin Spacey after dozens of women in Hollywood stepped forward about sexual harassment.
Rapp, 46, told Buzzfeed he met Spacey in 1986 on the Broadway circuit and was once invited to a party at the “House of Cards” star’s apartment. Fast-forward to the end of the evening and Rapp, 14 at the time, looked around and noticed he was the only guest still there.
“My memory was that I thought, Oh, everybody’s gone. Well, yeah, I should probably go home,” Rapp said. Spacey “sort of stood in the doorway, kind of swaying. My impression when he came in the room was that he was drunk.”
The “Twister” actor next described Spacey’s alleged sexual advances. “[Spacey] picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me,” Rapp accused.
Rapp admitted it felt good to share the alleged story. “Not to simply air a grievance, but to try to shine another light on the decades of behaviour that have been allowed to continue because many people, including myself, being silent,” he explained. “I’m feeling really awake to the moment that we’re living in, and I’m hopeful that this can make a difference.”
Buzzfeed noted “representatives for Spacey, now 58, did not respond to numerous phone calls, emails and a letter detailing the allegations.”
