Taking out an ad during the 2018 Academy Awards broadcast is going to cost a pretty penny.
Variety reports that ABC, the network that airs the Oscars, is looking to charge advertisers as much as $2.6 million for a 30-second spot during the broadcast.
The ad space during the show is nearly sold out, according to Variety, with the network looking to find ways to weave advertising sponsors throughout the show.
Over the last few years, typical ads have gone for between $1.8 million to $2.2 million for 30 seconds.
The cost has increased despite viewership during the award ceremony falling in recent years, from 43.7 million in 2014 when Ellen DeGeneres hosted, down to 34.4 million for the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted 2017 broadcast.
The network is able to charge a high price for ads during the Oscars because of the limited amount of time available for commercials, giving sponsors a greater chance of standing out. In 2015, the Oscars featured only 29 minutes and 45 seconds of ad time, while the Golden Globes that year had 36 minutes, and the Grammys had over 40 minutes available.
