The Internet is not digging Kim Kardashian-West’s homage to the late, great Aaliyah.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star paid tribute to some of music’s greatest icons, but her latest outfit may cause her the most grief. After dressing up as Madonna and Cher over the weekend, Kardashian unveiled her tribute to Aaliyah.

Unfortunately for the reality star, many users online were far from impressed. “Legend or not Aaliyah is a black woman and you’re not,” one user tweeted. “It’s offensive and you shouldn’t push this limit.”
“Kim Kardashian did Aaliyah so dirty trying be her for Halloween,” another user tweeted.
But not everyone was outraged. Multiple users came to Kardashian’s defense, disputing the notion her costume was an instance of cultural appropriation.
“I hate when y’all make me defend Kim Kardashian but her Aaliyah costume was nothing even adjacent to cultural appropriation. Please stop,” someone tweeted.
