Wendy Williams’ Halloween show had some real-life scares when the talk show host fainted on live TV.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The Wendy Williams Show”, Williams comes back from a commercial break and is in the middle of announcing the winners of a Halloween costume contest when she visibly begins having difficulties. Stumbling over her words and seeming out of breath, Williams pauses as her eyes widen and she begins swaying. The crowd isn’t sure if it’s part of the show, as there’s a smattering of cheers before they realize something is wrong. Williams starts wobbling, stumbles, and drops to the ground as the production crew rush to her.

While the incident certainly looks scary, Williams returns after a break announcing she overheated in her costume, causing her to faint.
“That was not a stunt,” she reassures viewers. “I overheated in my costume. I did pass out. But, you know what, I’m a champ and I’m back.”
After her fainting spell, Williams props herself up on a clear podium to continue with the show. She still appears to struggle with her words as she announces the winners of the costume contest.
A rep for Williams tells ET Canada:
“Wendy is feeling much better. She overheated because of her heavy costume, makeup, and lights. She was able to finish the show in true Wendy spirit. She will address the incident on tomorrow’s show.”
On Wednesday, an emotional Williams explained what went wrong during the live show.
“It was really scary,” she tells the audience. “They told me I went down on my booty first. I didn’t go clunk like a door. I went booty first and rolled onto my back and then my head. I have no headache and no bump. I am 53 years old. I am in shock.”
Williams was checked out by paramedics backstage and given the all-clear when it came to her blood pressure and heart. “I’m a 53 year old middle aged women, going through what middle aged women go through if you know what I mean! The costume is hot. Right before passing out I felt like I was in the middle of a camp fire.”
The scary incident had viewers at home alarmed, taking to Twitter to express concern for the talk show host. Queen Latifah also sent her well wishes to Williams for a speedy recovery.
“I want to thank you all for your tweets and flowers and my colleagues in this game on TV. I got all of your well wishes and the people that covered it. You on social media who commented. Even the haters because you motivate me,” Williams tells fans.
