Nicki Minaj & Cardi B Shut Down Feud Rumours: “People Just Want That Drama”

By Julia Lennox.

They are two of the biggest names in hip-hop — but that doesn’t mean they’re beefing.

Fans of both Nicki Minaj and Cardi B believed that their recent collaboration with Migos — a fiery new track titled “MotorSport” — signalled an end to their ‘feud,’ however, the two rappers have shut down claims that there even was one to begin with.

Minaj took to Twitter Tuesday night to clarify how the song came to be, indicating that she and Migos member Quavo were the only two artists on the original version.

The “No Frauds” rapper then addressed her displeasure with the “conspiracy theories” surrounding her and Cardi B, who made history with her major label debut hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The 34-year-old — known for highlighting the misogynistic nature of the genre — pointed out that male MCs can all enjoy success, while females are constantly pitted against each other.

Although the “Super Bass” singer has been involved in a number of feuds in the past — her highly publicized rivalry with Remy Ma, as well as spats with Lil Kim, Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey — it seems like the Cardi B drama is, in fact, fiction.

Hip-hop publication Complex sat down with the former “Love & Hip Hop: New York” star during her appearance at a Bacardi Halloween party Monday night, where they asked if the collaboration was their way of putting all the rumours to rest.

In a classic Cardi response, she replied, “I feel like people wouldn’t even be satisfied if me and [Nicki were] making out on a freakin’ photo…I feel like people just want that drama because it’s just entertaining.”

Minaj then retweeted the video, adding, “Very true. We could make out and it wouldn’t be enough. I’m done.”

Cardi B’s feature on the single comes as no surprise — she recently got engaged to boyfriend and Migos member Offset on stage in Philadelphia.
