At this year’s Juno Awards, Feist honoured the late Leonard Cohen with a performance of his classic song, “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye”, and now she’s released her own recording of the Cohen cover.

Feist’s spare, stripped-down rendition of the song – which Cohen recorded way back in 1967 — is delicate and haunting, similar to the version she performed at the Junos.

The release of the song comes days before Feist is scheduled to perform at Tower of Song: a Memorial Tribute to Leonard Cohen, which will take place at Montreal’s Bell Centre on Nov. 6. She’ll be joined by a star-studded roster of performers including Sting, k.d. lang, Lana Del Rey, Elvis Costello, Philip Glass and Adam Cohen, son of the late, great Canadian music icon.

“My father left me with a list of instructions before he passed: ‘Put me in a pine box next to my mother and father. Have a small memorial for close friends and family in Los Angeles…and if you want a public event, do it in Montreal,” Adam Cohen said of the tribute concert in a statement. “I see this concert as a fulfillment of my duties to my father that we gather in Montreal to ring the bells that still can ring.”
