Mega producer Timbaland says he’s being misrepresented by the media following criticism of his decision to post a meme reading “His momma named him Bruce. Imma call him Bruce”; on Facebook. The post was read by many as a transphobic response to Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover. (It’s also still up on his Facebook page.)
In a series of tweets, Timbaland declared that he was merely reposting the meme and that he didn’t directly say the “Imma Call Him Bruce”; line at any point.

Drake Bell has also faced strong public backlash after posting a tweet reading “Sorry…still calling you Bruce.”; He would later delete the tweet and attempt an explanation for it.
