Jimmy Fallon’s mother, Gloria, has died.
“Jimmy Fallon’s mother, Gloria, died peacefully on Saturday,” a rep for Fallon tells ET. “Jimmy was at his mother’s bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC. Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time.”
“Jimmy comes from a very close-knit family, and together with the rest of his loved ones, they are by her side right now,” the source explained.
No production changes for next week have been announced at this time.
Following the sad news, Fallon’s late-night competitor Stephen Colbert shared his condolences on Twitter, writing that he’s “remembering Jimmy Fallon and his family in our prayers today.”
Also send his sympathy is “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen.
Meanwhile, an NBC spokesperson has issued a statement announcing that scheduled tapings of “The Tonight Show” for the upcoming week will be cancelled.
On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss. Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon’s love, kindness and support,” reads the statement. “‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ tapings have been cancelled for the week of November 6-10. Repeat episodes will be scheduled. ”
