Tom Hanks Takes Break From Promoting Book To Help Pull Off Wedding Proposal

Tom Hanks continues to build on his reputation as one of Hollywood’s friendliest actors.

The “Forrest Gump” star was promoting his new book, Uncommon Type: Some Storiesat the Texas Book Festival in Austin on Saturday. During a Q&A for the book, the actor and author switched gears.

Hanks, 61, told the crowd he was bored of answering questions, according to the Associated Press. He then took out a piece of paper and announced someone in the room named Ryan McFarling had a question for one Nikki Young: “Nikki, will you marry me?” Hanks read.

McFarling and Young made their way on stage, before the man got on one knee and proposed to his then girlfriend — and now fiancee!

Young said yes and the happy couple sealed it with a kiss. Another crowd member captured the moment on camera.

Hanks will appear alongside Meryl Streep, Alison Brie, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson and Canada’s Bruce Greenwood in next month’s historical drama “The Post”.
