Mariah Carey, Alice Cooper, John Mellencamp Among Nominees For Songwriters Hall Of Fame

The 2018 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee nominee list has arrived and it’s stocked full of amazing artists.

Mariah Carey is one of the many singer/songwriters to earn a nomination. The star has co-written 17 of her 18 number one hits.

Rap group N.W.A. also nabbed a nomination, which comes a year after Jay-Z became the first rapper inducted.

Joining Carey and N.W.A. are John Mellencamp, Tracy Chapman, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Cliff, the Isley Brothers, Chrissie Hynde, Alan Jackson, Kool and the Gang, Tom Waits and Tom T. Hall, who are among the performing nominees of the 2018 class.

Non-performing nominees include William “Mickey” Stevenson, Bill Anderson, Maurice Starr, Allee Willis, Steve Dorff, Mike Chapman, Randy Goodrum, Tony Macaulay and Jermaine Dupri.

And finally, the songwriting duos who are nominated are Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan, Denny Randell and Sandy Linzer, and L. Russell Brown and Irwin Levine.

Six of the nominated songwriting groups will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame at a gala in New York City on June 14 next year.
