The BFI London Film Festival will kick off its 59th year with the European premiere of “Suffragette”;, starring Carey Mulligan.

The highly anticapated film, which tells the story of a British women who risked everything in the fight for equality and the right to vote, will have it’s big night at the Odeon Leicester Square on October 7.

Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson and Meryl Streep also star in the drama, which is directed by Sarah Gavron and produced by both Faye Ward and Alison Owen.

The BFI London Film Festival runs from Wednesday, October 7 to Sunday, October 18, 2015. The official programme is to be announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
