Keith Urban is using his vocal chords to make a statement.
The country star debuted his new song, “Female”, which was motivated by the countless sexual harassment allegations against disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein.

Ross Copperman, one of the song’s writers, told The Tennessean, “We’re in a room and we’re like, ‘What can we do about this?’ And that’s the one thing we can do is write songs.”
Urban was totally on board to record the song. “From the second I heard it I loved it and started figuring out how fast we could get into the studio to record it,” Urban added.

“It just spoke to me as a father and a husband and a son,” he continued. “The song really touched me for women of all ages and all walks of life. ‘Female’ is such a great title and the right song to write.”
Urban will perform the song at Wednesday night’s CMA Awards.
