The ladies of “The Talk” have unveiled their new, permanent co-host, following Aisha Tyler’s departure from the show back in August.
In an announcement made to viewers on Tuesday, the four co-hosts of “The Talk”, which airs on Global weekdays at 2 p.m. ET/PT, announced that rapper and actress Eve would be joining the show as their official fifth member for season eight.
Joining the panel, including Sarah Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood, Eve expressed her excitement. “I am the most excited I’ve been in a long, long, long time,” she said. “My face hurts from smiling. I am so honoured to be here.”
Speaking about the Grammy-winning artist, best known for her 2001 song, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind ft. Gwen Stefani”, CBS executive Angelica McDaniel told Variety, “Eve is a natural fit with our dynamic group of Daytime Emmy Award-winning hosts, and brings a fresh perspective and bold point of view as an accomplished artist, businesswoman, and wife.”
Eve also explained to Variety, “I am interested in hosting, and especially on this show, because I feel as though I can express myself in a way people haven’t seen me before, and be able to engage in great discussions [and] have some fun.”
Tyler announced her exit from the show back in June, after revealing she had become too busy with three other TV series. On her close bond with the women, she told ET Canada: “The hour on TV is wonderful, but it’s the least important part of the time that I’ve been at the show. It’s the time off-camera that is really meaningful to me.”
