Blake Shelton Is People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ For 2017, Jokes That ‘People Are Going To Hate Me Over This’

People has revealed its 2017 pick for “Sexiest Man Alive,” and it’s none other than chart-topping country artist, coach on “The Voice” and beau of Gwen Stefani: Blake Shelton!

“People are going to hate me over this,” quips Shelton about his latest accolade, joking that the magazine must have “run out of celebrities with both eyes… Like, wow, we’re down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical. That must be all you had left to look for.”

For Shelton, the best part about being this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” is that he can rub it in the face of fellow “Voice” coach (and 2013 “Sexiest Man Alive” honouree) Adam Levine. “I can’t wait to shove this up Adam’s ass,” Shelton adds gleefully. “As proud as I am and honoured that you guys asked me, that’s really the only thing I care about.”

Adds Shelton: “I’m owning this moment. I’ve been ugly my whole life. If I can be sexy for a whole year, I’m taking it.”

In the upcoming People cover story, Shelton, 41, credits Stefani with urging him to accept this year’s title. “She goes, ‘Listen to me, you’re going to regret this for the rest of your life if you don’t take this gift and just live in the moment,” he adds.
