After starring with Kevin Spacey in the summer hit “Baby Driver”, star Ansel Elgort is speaking out against his co-star who is facing multiple sexual assault accusations.
The 23-year-old actor did not mince words when it came to his feelings on Spacey. “The whole thing is really shocking,” Elgort told the press during an appearance at GQ‘s Men Of The Year Awards in Sydney, Australia. Fifteen men have come forward with allegations against Spacey, with five accusers alleging the incidents took place when they were teenagers.
Elgort hopes the allegations and wave of victims speaking out against men like Spacey and Harvey Weinstein will lead to a positive change in the industry and beyond as people realize “enough is enough.”
“I think what’s happening right now in the industry is people are standing up and saying that certain ways of the industry are no longer acceptable or in life in general,” he said. “The world should be a safer place where sexual harassment is not acceptable.”
Since 15 men have come forward with allegations against the two-time Oscar winner, Netflix has cut ties with Spacey and his agent, booting him from “House Of Cards” and cancelling the series. Director Ridley Scott announced he would replace Spacey in the upcoming drama “All The Money In The World”, re-shooting his scenes with Christopher Plummer in the role.
The 58-year-old actor is currently “taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment” according to a representative.
