Ten years after 2008’s home invasion film “The Strangers” became an instant horror classic, the masked and anonymous killers are back to scare us again. Now, a terrifying new look at the film starring Christina Hendricks has arrived online.
Writer-director Bryan Bertino’s original film pitted Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler against masked killers who terrorized the couple in their secluded vacation home. This time around, Bertino is setting Hendricks and Martin Henderson up for more than their share of scares.
In “The Strangers: Prey At Night”, a family arrives at a mobile home park to visit relatives, only to find the place mysteriously deserted. As darkness sets in, the family is tormented by three masked psychopaths as they must fight for their survival. The intense first look at the sequel shows plenty of terrifying moments for Hendricks, Henderson and co-star Bailee Madison.
The original concept behind the home invasion story was inspired by the Manson Family murders and a series of break-ins in Bertino’s neighbourhood when he was growing up.
The sequel is co-written by Bertino who hands directing duties over to Johannes Roberts (“47 Meters Down”).
“The Strangers: Prey At Night” opens in theatres on March 9.
