Garth Brooks elaborates on his decision to lip-sync at this year’s Country Music Association Awards.
The country music legend tells “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” he wanted to save his voice — which he was losing — for his ticket-purchasing fans on tour.
“The truth is I love awards shows, I think they’re sweet,” Brooks says. “What it’s about are those people who put their butts in the seat, travel, fight that traffic, pay that parking and go in. That’s who you want to save your voice for.”
Brooks, 55, also gushes over his wife, Trisha Yearwood, telling DeGeneres “forever isn’t enough” on Monday’s episode.
DeGeneres tries to pull a classic jump scare prank on Brooks, but “The Thunder Rolls” singer simply laughs and walks down the “Ellen” employee executing the prank.
