Kelly Rowland took to Twitter to apologize on Sunday after accidentally mispronouncing Niall Horan’s name while introducing him to the stage at the 2017 American Music Awards.
Rowland, 36, did the honours alongside Kat Graham, 28, and even belted out a bit of the “Slow Hands” single for the audience.
However, despite seemingly being very aware of the song, viewers pointed out she’d said the One Direction heartthrob’s name completely wrong.
Realizing her mistake, Rowland later took to social media to share an apologetic clip.
She explained, “Ladies and gentlemen, Niall Horan. I love the song, you heard me say it.”
Rowland made sure Horan’s name was tagged all over the upload, which clearly helped to get the singer’s attention.
Horan – who bagged the award for New Artist of the Year – replied, “Hahahahah I love ya Kelly, donāt you worry. Iāve heard them all.”
The star-studded ceremony saw Diana Ross, 73, take home the award of the night, with her being honoured with the Life Achievement trophy.
āThis is the family. We love you so much, so very much,ā she gushed while accepting the prestigious accolade with her family by her side. āThis is all about love. This says it all, this is my family and Iām sending love out there to all of you.”
āI really love being here,ā she continued, āand I feel so humbled by this. I love you all. I think you know that. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.ā
