Sarah Michelle Gellar has been married to Freddie Prinze Jr. for over 15 years, and she’s got a few tricks up her sleeve for making the relationship last.
The star appeared on Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show Wednesday, where the host congratulated her on the rare feat in Hollywood, and asked if she could share any secrets to the success of her marriage.
The 40-year-old “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum said her best tip is for a couple to have “separate bathrooms.”
“I feel like there are certain things that should just be kept your own and they never need to know,” Gellar explained.
Bathrooms aren’t the only thing Gellar recommends keeping separate. “Maybe, possibly, a separate shopping credit card; or if you are a guy, maybe a separate gaming card so I don’t have to see how much video games cost.”
Gellar also talked about her 41-year-old husband and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” co-star’s video-game obsession and how she handles it.
“There used to be a game called World of Warcraft … so I literally at this point lost my husband, so I joined a support group, not a joke, called Widows of Warcraft,” Gellar said.
“This is a true story… ladies, if you are losing them to video game world, there are support groups out there… and you can meet other people who have dealt with this same issue.”
Gellar and Prinze began dating in 2000 and got married in 2002. They have two children: Charlotte, 8, and Rocky, 5.
